This is Lips the fish, a Beanie Baby and Beanie Buddy. The Lionfish is very beautiful with light and dark stripes and long radiating dorsal and pectoral fins. This is a tropical marine fish
(Pterois volitans) that is somewhat poisonous. It is a member of the scorpion fish family (Scorpaenidae). It is found in the Indian ocean and the Pacific ocean. Its spines can inflict a painful wound in man.
The Triggerfish is of the Balistidae family. It is fearless and aggressive. This fish has a remarkable first dorsal spine that becomes erect when the fish is endangered. The smaller second dorsal spine also becomes erect and locks in place the first spine. This makes for a very unpleasant meal for any predator. This fish also uses the mechanism by wedging itself into a tight place and when the dorsal spine is erect, it is impossible to remove the fish from its hideout. Triggerfish feed on crustaceans, echinoderms, mollusks and fireworms and starfish.
Groupers are medium to huge sea basses (Serranidae) that frequent warm inshore
waters. They range in size from 8 feet (such as the jewfish) to 6 inches. Most groupers are bottom dwellers. Some groupers can change their colors. Several of the large sea basses are endangered. Most sea bass and groupers change sex from female to male as they mature to adulthood.
The Piranha (Serrasalmus) is from South America. It may reach a maximum length of 18 inches. It travels in huge schools and is known to attack and eat any warm-blooded animal that may venture into its area.
