Terriers, including Wire-haired Fox Terriers, were originally developed in the British Isles. They were little hunting dogs used to pursue foxes, rats and badgers and other small mammals.

They are alert, active, hardy dogs, very strong for their size. Their antics can be cute and comical. They are friendly and fearless, good with children.

They are small dogs, about 15 inches high, and not weighing more than about 18 pounds. The coat is mostly white with brown and black markings. It is short, dense and wiry. The eyes are dark. The ears are V-shaped and folded forward. The tail is usually docked.

These little dogs are barkers and make good watchdogs.
