These are West Highland White Terriers or Westies. There are resin frames made by E& S Imports. A large Westie in back from Hansa Plush. Webkinz Westie and Lil Kinz Westie is shown at right. According to my sources, the West Highland White Terrier is descended from cairn terriers. A breeder of cairn terriers happened to get some white pups in his litters and from them bred the West Highland White. They originated in Scotland.

Like the cairn, these dogs are small (11 inches) and about 20 pounds. The coat is pure white and very soft. It is double coated, wiry on the outside and soft on the inside. Regular grooming is necessary to keep the coat tangle free.

A wonderful little companion dog, it still needs enough space to get adequate exercise. They are affectionate and enjoy the companionship of both humans and other animals. They are independent and have a tendency for stubbornness.

Their life expectancy is about 12 to 14 years. They do well in apartments.
