These little dogs are Welsh Corgis. The plush Corgis come from Douglas Cuddle Toys and the Corgi frame is from E&S Imports. You can find some of these items in our Gift Shop.

The Welsh Corgi probably comes from the same stock as the German basset. However it was also the Celts who brought a similar dog to Great Britain. The breed was recognized in 1934.

There are two varieties. The Cardigan (long tail) and the Pembroke (docked tail). The height is from 10 to 12 inches and the weight should be less than 30 pounds. The Cardigan's hair is short and stiff and comes in a variety of colors but no white. The Pembroke's hair is uniformly reddish, sand colored, fawn or black with areas of white on its paws, chest and neck.

This little dog is friendly, intelligent and easy to train. It was originally used to herd sheep and cattle.
