Boston Terriers are small dogs, about 15 to 17 inches tall. The weight varies but on average is about 20 pounds. The hair is short and does not shed.

These are lively, highly intelligent little dogs with a smooth coat. Colors are brindle, seal or black and evenly marked with white. They are short of stature with a short tail.

Their expression is alert and kind, indicating a high degree of intelligence. This is a most important characteristic of the breed. The eyes are wide apart, large and round and dark in color. The ears are small, carried erect, either natural or cropped. The muzzle is short, square, wide and deep and in proportion to the skull. It is free from wrinkles.

The nose is black and wide, with a well defined line between the nostrils. The coat is short, smooth, bright and fine in texture. White muzzle band, white blaze between the eyes, white forechest.

The Boston Terrier has an excellent disposition and is a wonderful companion.
