Samoyeds are attractive, dignified and gentle dogs. They get along with everyone but tend to favor one person in particular. They are very playful and friendly. If you are looking for a watchdog, this breed may be a bit too friendly, although its bark will alert you to strangers. These highly intelligent dogs can offer some challenges with regard to formal training. That being the case, training should be started at an early age. They get along well with children. Leaving them alone for long periods of time can be a problem as they will find ways to entertain themselves that can be destructive, as they like to chew. This breed has a tendency to bark a lot.
