The history of the Decoy is long and rich.
It goes back a few thousand years. The Smithsonian Museum houses
the oldest pieces found in North America. Traditional wooden
decoys were made in the 1800s to the mid 1900s.
Initially used to attract waterfowl, today
the craft has turned to an artform. Many decoys found in someone's
attic have turned out to be very valuable treasures. Even if
your decoy isn't valued in the thousands, it can still be a treasure
to you. The decoys found on these pages were made by Wildlife
Creations of Hallsville, Missouri.
