Bees belong to the order Hymenoptera. These are social insects that live in colonies. In each colony there is a queen, female workers and males called drones.
Honey bees are the only ones to store honey. Each bee comes equipped with a stinger and uses it to defend the hive.
The queen's lifespan is generally two to three years; she can live up to five years. Male drones die soon after mating with the queen.
