Cattle can be divided into six groups: Buffaloes (Africa, India, etc.), Bison (Europe and North America, Yak (Tibet, etc.), the gaur, gayal and banteng (India and southeast Asia, Brahman or zebu (eastern and African domesticated cattle, and western or European domesticated cattle.

The Angus is a breed of black, polled (having no horns) beef cattle, for many years known as Aberdeen Angus, due to the fact that it originated in the county of Aberdeen, Scot. Coming from an obscure ancestry, the breed was improved and its characteristics fixed early in the19th century by a number of breeders, two of whom were Hugh Watson and William McCombie.

Angus are black in color, have a polled head (no horns), are compact and have a low set body. The Angus ranks very highly among beef breeds and for years purebred or crossbred Angus steers have held high places of honor at the leading fat stock shows in Great Britain and the United States. This breed was introduced into the United States in 1873 and since then its influence has spread widely.

Jeannie's Cottage is full of lots of plush toy cows. Some are from Jeannie's own personal collection, but some can be purchased in our Gift Shop.

Well, as you can see, I have quite a herd of cattle here at the ranch, er, ah, I mean Jeannie's Cottage. And as I find new and adorable plush cows to add to the herd, I will show them below. Starting from the left and going across we have Vaca the long-horn cow from Argentina (Coca-Cola Collection), Biff the Buffalo (Puffkin), Snort the red bull Beanie Baby and Buddy by Ty Inc., Daisy the cow Beanie Baby (black), Bruno the red bull Puffkin, Waks the Yak from Nepal (Coca-Cola Collection). Yaks are similar to cattle and can be found in high mountain plateaus in Central Asia. They have shaggy-coats that keep them warm in their cold environment and the natives also use the long hair to weave clothing.

In the back are four Boyds cows: one is Angus MacMoo (11 inches high). On the right are Florabelle Uttermost and Fernando Uttermost. They are about 8 inches high. In front of them is Meadow the cow Puffkin and finally to the far right is Toro the bull from Spain of the Coca-Cola Collection.

To the right is Bessie the cow, a Ty Beanie Baby and below Bessie is Madison the Ty Attic Treasure cow in the blue overalls.

This group of cows are all the Beanie Baby cows living at Jeannie's Cottage. We are not a Ty retailer, so these items are part of Jeannie's personal collection and are not for sale. These are, clockwise from left: Snort the red bull, Jersey, Tipsy, Frosty, another Tipsy, Bessie, and Daisy.

This group of cows are new to Jeannie's Cottage and you can find many of them in our Gift Shop. These are made by companies such as Russ Berrie, Ganz, Wild Republic and Manhattan Toy.

These are Boyds Cows and include, from left: Bessie, Mookins (who is actually a bear in a cow disguise), then we have Baby Mookins sitting on a yellow moon and finally we have Angus MacMoo.
