Woodrow is a woodpecker Puffkin from Swibco. From his appearance it would seem that Woodrow is a generic woodpecker. I know of no woodpeckers that have blue feathers and an all red crested head. So I am going to call him a red-headed woodpecker and tell you all about that bird that is pictured below.

The Red-headed Woodpecker (Melanerpes erythrocephalus) is about 9 inches long. You'll find these woodpeckers in backyards, farmlands, and woodlands. They feed on insects, berries, and acorns.

This bird's range is in North America, pretty much east of the Rockies from southern Canada to the Gulf states.

The nest is found in a hole in a tree. There are 4 to 2 white eggs.

This little Red-headed Woodpecker (right) is only 6 inches long. Wild Republic, maker of these birds, has joined hands with the National Audubon Society to create this line of birds. Each bird's lifelike design and detailing is the result of input from Audubon. Additionally the sounds in each toy are authentic bird songs provided by The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Wild Republic's affiliation with these two bird organizations emphasizes its commitment to nature conservation. Check the Gift Shop to see if there are any Red-headed Woodpeckers for sale.
