This is Stilts the Stork, a Beanie Baby made by Ty Inc. Stilts is a White Stork. The White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a member of the Ciconiidae family. There are 17 species. All have long legs and they are found throughout the world. They are excellent fliers. They are mute, making only a hissing sound.

The White Stork is the best known member of the family. It is black and white with red bill and legs. It is regarded as a symbol of good luck in some areas of Europe. It has been known to build its nest on the rooftops of homes.

Storks nest in groups. Their chief source of food is frogs. They live near fields and meadows and lakes and streams. They also feed on mollusks and crustaceans. Storks return to the same nest every year and either repair or build onto it. The nest is built of sticks, grass and earth and lined with vegetation and feathers.They are very heavy, towering structures.

The clutch consists of 2 to 7 white eggs. Both parents take turns incubating the eggs. The incubation period is about 30 days. The birds remain in the nest for two months. They are mature at 70 days but do not breed until the fourth or fifth year. The white stork nests in northwest Africa, Europe, and western Asia.
