The Narwhal is a cetacean (Monodon monoceros). Male and female narwhals have only two teeth. In the male, one tooth grows into a long tusk, sometimes becoming as long as the animal itself. This tusk is composed of ivory.

Narwhals are dark gray with some mottling. These mammals feed on small fish, crustaceans and cuttlefish.

Like the beluga, there is no dorsal fin. And as most cetaceans, narwhals travel in groups. The group size can be 15 to 20 individuals.
